Financial options

As a service to our patients with insurance coverage, we will submit claims directly to your dental insurance company.  However, payment of the patient portion for treatment is required at the completion of each appointment.  Should payment not be received from the insurance company for any reasons, the balance owing will be the patient's responsibility.  Our fees reflect the quality of dentistry we provide and the materials we use in performing your needed treatment.  To facilitate our goals, we have developed the following financial options:

Major credit cards such as Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Interac Debit are accepted in our office.  We also offer 3rd party financing which may assist you with the payment of your treatment.

 

Insurance

Dental Insurance is a contract between your employer and the dental insurance company.  The benefits that you will receive are based on the terms of the contract that were negotiated between your employer and the dental insurance company - not your dental office.  Please understand that we deal with perhaps 50 insurance companies, each with 10-20 different insurance plan variations.  As such, it is impossible for us to understand the ins and outs of each and every plan.  It is the patient's responsibility to understand the limitations of their own plan.

The goal of most dental insurance policies is to provide only basic care for specific dental services but our goal at SeRena Dental is to provide you with high-quality dentistry regardless of the coverage you receive from your dental insurance company; therefore, we base our treatment plans on what you need, not on what your dental plan covers.  100% Dental insurance doesn’t mean that they cover 100% of all dental fees, in many cases; they cover less or nothing at all. This is why so many dental patients become confused about their dental insurance.

Another fact that most dental patients do not realize is that each dental insurance plan has a dollar amount maximum per year.  This simply means that once the preset limit is reached, no other services will be covered by your dental insurance company - no matter how essential the service may be to your dental health.  Many insurance companies try to control and dictate the amount and type of dentistry you receive by having a dollar limit and also by requiring authorization for procedures in advance.  We do not want you to compromise your care based on restraints placed by the insurance company.  Please be aware that what your dental plan covers is based on what costs them the least, not what is necessarily best for you.  Sometimes these two things are the same, but sometimes there is a wide gap.

Our best advice is to think long term and consider what is best for your dental health.  If you receive inadequate treatment now based on what your dental insurance coverage, you will pay more in the long run if it fails prematurely.  Please note that our office will do everything possible to help you maximize the insurance benefits to which you are entitled and make any remaining balance easily affordable.  If you have any questions regarding your insurance benefits, please don't hesitate to call our office at (604) 594-0588 to review your concerns.
